What Does Appreciation of Artistry Do?

As promised, I'm back to dive a little deeper into AOA's purpose!

SIDE NOTE: See our next blog to find out what you can do to be involved!

Okay. Here we go...

Think of Appreciation of Artistry in terms of the word, "ART" and that should be a really good starting point for you to get to the meat of what we do.

The letter, "A" represents the heart of our name: APPRECIATION

We want to appreciate artistry from all genres, all times in history, by people from all walks of life, and from all over the world.

If you currently look at our social media, you will find a really great mixture of art. You will see amazing Greek architecture from B.C. to the modern marvels of the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, Spain. There are samples of calligraphy, poems, installations, sculpture, paintings, various forms of dance, music, film, acting and even how the artistry of lighting makes artwork come alive.

So as you can see, appreciation is the key element of our existence. Whether it is on our website, Facebook, an event, or any other future social media outlet, we will continue to share heartfelt posts on artistry that touches the soul.

The letter, "R" represents: RECOGNITION

Our goal is to highlight artists who are in the thick of trying to make a living through their artwork. Or perhaps, their brain is so creative, that they can't even focus on attempting to promote themselves. Additionally, there are those people who care nothing about selling their work. They just do what they do, because they love it. Their family and friends, however, know that it's just too good, too touching to not let others appreciate it, as well. We want to help these artists either by sharing their work with the world through our social media or by making them part of our AOA family and doing the selling for them!

And finally...

The letter, "T" represents: TEACHING (or TRAINING)

This is two-fold because there are those that aren't artists themselves, but they are touched by the way it makes them feel when they experience it and might be interested in knowing more about the art's history or why something has moved them. Then, there are artists (or potential artists) that want to learn more about their craft. For instance, if I'm a singer: "How can I strengthen my voice without causing harm to my vocal chords?", or if I'm a painter: "What is the best brush to use to achieve a certain look?"

Without drawing this blog post out, we want to help in both of these instances: teach a little art history, share current artist interviews and biographies. and give pointers to the artists. A few of the ways we can achieve this, are through blog posts and guest blog posts, instructional videos and workshops at events. This is not an exhaustive list, but just a small sampling of our plans.

So to summarize:

Appreciate

Recognize

Teach

Now for the important part...
